HAPPY DAYS...OR NOT: Cape Town mayoral candidate, Patricia De Lille, poses with leader of the DA Mmusi Maimane.

The DA mayoral candidate believes the current administration has delivered and produced visible change in the Mother City

DA mayoral candidate Patricia de Lille on Wednesday said she was proud to say she would be voting for herself.

“I started my campaign five years ago – every day of my work as the mayor of the City of Cape Town has been to protect my own integrity by making sure that what I have put into the manifesto, and the plans I have committed myself to, are carried out. I am confident that I have done that,” she said after casting her vote at the Pinelands Town Hall.

Dressed in a blue suit, she stood in line as a number of elderly people waited their turn at the ballot box.

De Lille said she felt the same feelings she experienced when she voted for the first time in 1994.

“It’s the same feeling that I had when I voted for the first time in 1994. The value of the vote and democracy is something we must never take for granted.”

De Lille believed the current administration had delivered and produced visible change in the Mother City.

“I know that the voters are a lot more intelligent than some of the critics and that the voters see and experienced the change. [I know] that they will give us another five years to continue with the progress that we have made.”
